LifeGift receives re-accreditation
LifeGift has received re-accreditation from the American Association of Tissue Banks.
LifeGift is a not-for-profit organ and tissue recovery agency assisting patients in North, Southeast and West Texas.
AATB granted the agency a recertification for its recovery of skin, cardiac, vascular and bone tissues for transplants, medical education and research.
LifeGift was required to complete a self-assessment audit form and pre-inspection checklist, followed by onsite inspection by AATB. AATB inspectors reviewed documents and donor charts, interviewed staffers and LifeGift's chief medical officer, and closely inspected the recovery facility before making the recommendation for recertification.
President and CEO Sam Holtzman said in a press release, "Without the tireless work of the LifeGift staff, as well as the cooperation of our hospital partners, medical examiners and tissue processing partners, this accreditation would not be possible. Working together, we are able to maximize tissue donation and help thousands waiting for life-improving tissue transplants."
LifeGift is located at 2510 Westridge St. For more information, see www.lifegift.org.
