Aurora Picture Show brings back Soul Nite
The Aurora Picture Show will revive Soul Nite, a music performance film screening, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at the Historic Eldorado Ballroom.
Guest curator Peter Lucas will screen video of rare performances from 1960s soul musicians, including Sam and Dave, Rufus Thomas, Wilson Pickett and more.
Several of the soul performers featured in the Soul Nite screening have performed at the Eldorado Ballroom.
The event will also feature food, drinks and dancing.
Lucas is a filmmaker, curator, arts educator and filmmaker.
He currently works as contributing curator at the Contemporary Arts Museum, 5216 Montrose Blvd. in Houston.
Tickets are $10 for Aurora Picture Show members and $15 for nonmembers.
The Eldorado Ballroom is located at 2310 Elgin Ave. in Houston.
