Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show announces trail ride winners
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has announced the winners of the 2012 trail ride.
Horse-drawn covered wagons and cowboys and cowgirls on horseback arrived at their final destination in Memorial Park on Friday, Feb. 24, completing the trail ride. More than 3,000 riders from all across the state participated to raise awareness for the show.
Trail rides were judged the week before participants arrived at Memorial Park along different points of their routes.
The Spirit Award for the trail ride and trail ride wagon 3 went to Sam Houston. Winning the Division 3 Award was the Mission. Division 2 went to Prairie View, and Division 1 went to Salt Grass.
The 12 participating trail rides included Los Vaqueros Rio Grande, Mission, Northeastern, Old Spanish, Prairie View, Salt Grass, Sam Houston, Southwest, Southwestern, Texas Independence, Spanish and Valley Lodge.
