Rice U sponsors electronic recycling event
Residents of Harris County and the surrounding communities can dispose of household electronics for free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 17 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 18 at Rice University, 6100 Main St.
The event is sponsored by the university and OnCorp-RACE and 5R Processors LTD of Wisconsin.
Items accepted include computers, monitors, laptops, printers, televisions, stereo equipment, cell phones, microwaves and other standard household electronics.
Items not accepted include large household appliances, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, anything containing biohazards, hazardous waste, liquids, fluorescent bulbs, smoke detectors and radioactive materials.

In addition to disposal services, hard-drive cleansing services are being offered by 5R and are approved by the Department of Defense for hard-drive cleansing.
