The Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2012 Education Achievement Awards program for the 2012-13 school year.
The program awards $1,000 scholarships to eligible graduating high school senior minority students who plan to attend a four-year institution.
Further criteria for consideration include a minimum GPA of 2.8, proof of application to a college or university, a record of extracurricular and community involvement and a 500-word essay in which the student describes their most meaningful achievements and how they relate to the student's future goals.
Awards will be announced at the 36th annual Educational Achievement Awards Luncheon at 11 a.m. April 26 at the Power Center, located at 12401 S. Post Oak Road. Students receiving the award will be required to volunteer at a Houston Chamber of Commerce event.
An online application form can be completed at www.tfaforms.com/234837. All application materials must be submitted by March 26 to the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce, located at 2808 Wheeler St.
