HCC to hold business summit

Houston Community College will host its Small Business Growth Summit from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, April 10 in the school's West Loop Auditorium.

The event is sponsored by the school's HCC BizConnect Center for Entrepreneurship.

Registration and breakfast are scheduled to take place from 8-8:30 a.m.

From 8:30-10 a.m. will be the Funders Panel and Exhibit Fair, which will spotlight varying types of funders and what they look for when considering funding for startups and expansions. The panel will include the Small Business Association, ACCION, Houston Business Development Inc., Member's Choice Credit Union, Banks, Community Banks and the Houston Angel Network. It will be followed by an audience Q-&-A session.

The Small Business Growth Strategies presentation will take place from 10:15-11 a.m. The presentation will discuss business growth options available through the HCC's Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program, HCC Center for Entrepreneurship Program and SCORE.

The Social Media Marketing presentation is scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon. It will include discussion of the use of social media websites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter as business tools.

The registration fee for the event is $15 online and $20 at the location.
