West U police, fire units plan truck-pull benefit
The City of West University Place police and fire departments will team up with the Special Olympics Texas to host the 2012 Fire Truck Pull May 19, at Colonial Park, 4130 Byron Street, West University Place.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the first pull is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Teams of eight are welcomed to sign up to play tug-of-war with a 47,000-pound West U Fire Truck.
The Fire Truck Pull is appropriate for people of all ages. Registration is $300 per team of eight or $37.50 per person. Teams must have at least one female participant. Proceeds generated will benefit Special Olympics Texas athletes in the Greater Houston area.
There will be a prize awarded to the fastest team pull. Participants will win awards. Lunch will be provided for all participants after the last pull.
